August 2020: Amidst the global pandemic, IIT Madras had launched their first-ever online degree program on “Programming & Data Science” where anyone could enter with a qualifier test. I posted about the same on my Facebook Profile and 3 friends from my circle joined it.

Soon after their registrations ended for Phase-I, some friends reached out to me wanting to know more. I asked them to wait for the next round in May 2021.

In the meantime, I thought, what if we could have a platform where we can connect with people and share unique learning opportunities?

At the same time, being a Biotechnologist, I always wanted a community where we can discuss Science & Technology, Research Papers, and boost our scientific temper.

But these alone did not provoke me to start “UnPencil”.

We generally take notes with paper & pencil but I use my iPad + Apple Pencil instead. Since it is something different from traditional paper and pencil, there goes ‘UnPencil’.

We have lots of plans ahead in the pipeline. Let’s see how far and how quickly we can go forward in that direction. Buy me a coffee to support the initiative. 🙂
